When the Auburn Tigers rolled into Glendale, Ariz., two of Greenville’s own got a front-row seat for the BCS Championship game that ended with Auburn winning it’s second national championship. And unlike many who attended the historic match, neither one had to pay the exorbitant ticket price that online scalpers have been peddling.

Kenneth Carter and Caroline Dunklin traveled to the match because they each left Greenville last spring to become a part of the Auburn family.

Carter earned a spot on the Auburn football squad after his career at Greenville High School attracted the attention of talent scouts. Carter played defensive end for GHS, where his talents led him to be the fifth ranking Birmingham News Super Senior and a No. 16 slot in the Mobile Press-Register’s Elite 18. His merits also earned him a spot in the 2009 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game. He was named the state’s top lineman by the ASWA.

Though he didn’t see any play in the championship match, Carter did see action in seven games during the 2010 season. He tallied five unassisted tackles and one assisted for the season, with one tackle for a five yard loss and one fumble recovery.

Dunklin joined the Auburn Tiger Cheerleaders this year, after a distinguished high school career at Fort Dale Academy. Dunklin was one of three FDA cheerleaders selected to perform at the 2009 AISA All-Star game, and also placed in the top 8 in the Butler County Junior Miss competition.
